Artificial Turf Cleaning FAQ

Everything you need to know about professional turf cleaning, pet odor removal and what to expect from Arizona Turf Rescue

General Questions

What is professional artificial turf cleaning?

Professional turf cleaning goes beyond what a garden hose can do. We use power brooming, specialized cleaning agents, and targeted treatments to remove dirt, debris, bacteria, and odor that build up deep in the turf fibers and infill over time.

Your hose cleans the surface. We clean the turf.

How is professional turf cleaning different from hosing it down?

A garden hose removes surface debris but does nothing for the bacteria, ammonia, and organic material embedded in the infill. That's where odor lives. Professional cleaning reaches the source, not just the surface.

Hosing it down is the equivalent of wiping your counter without soap. It looks clean. It isn't.

How do I know if my turf needs cleaning?

If you notice any odor, especially after rain or heat, your turf needs attention. Other signs include matted fibers, visible debris buildup, discoloration, or if you have pets who regularly use the yard. Most turf benefits from at least an annual professional clean even if it looks fine.

If you're asking the question, you probably already know the answer.

How often should I have my turf professionally cleaned?

For pet owners, we recommend every 3-6 months depending on the number of pets and usage. For non-pet areas, once or twice a year is typically sufficient. High-traffic areas may need more frequent attention.

The longer you wait, the harder the job. Stay ahead of it.

How long does a turf cleaning appointment take?

Most standard cleanings take between 1-3 hours depending on the size of the area and the service tier. Heavily impacted yards requiring deep restoration may take longer.

Pet & Safety Questions

Is artificial turf cleaning safe for my pets?

Yes. All of our products are pet-safe and eco-friendly. No harsh chemicals, no waiting period, your pets can return to the yard immediately after we're done.
We built this service around pet owners.

Safe isn't optional, it's the baseline

My turf doesn't smell bad to me, does it still need cleaning?

Odor-causing bacteria build up gradually, and homeowners become nose-blind to it over time. Guests and visitors notice it before you do. If you have pets using the yard regularly, bacteria are present even if you can't detect them yourself.

Your nose adjusted. The bacteria didn't.

Why does my turf smell worse after it rains?

Rain reactivates dormant bacteria and ammonia compounds sitting in the infill. That sudden surge of odor after rainfall is a strong indicator that a professional cleaning and sanitization treatment is overdue.

Rain didn't create the problem. It just exposed it.

Can't I just use store-bought turf deodorizer?

Store-bought deodorizers mask odor temporarily but don't eliminate the bacteria causing it. Within days the smell returns. Professional treatment breaks down the odor source so it doesn't come back.

You can keep buying deodorizer every few weeks. Or you can fix it once.

My dogs use the turf every day, how do I stay on top of it?

Regular rinsing between professional cleanings helps, but bacteria will still accumulate. For heavy pet use, we recommend a professional clean every 3 months to stay ahead of buildup before it becomes a bigger problem.

The yard takes the hit so your house doesn't have to. Treat it accordingly.

Services & Pricing

What services does Arizona Turf Rescue offer?

We offer three service tiers: The Roxy (routine turf cleaning and rejuvenation), The Winston (deep clean and pet odor elimination), and The Scarlett (full restoration for heavily impacted or neglected turf). Each is designed for a different level of need.

Not sure which one you need? We'll help you figure it out.

How much does artificial turf cleaning cost?

Pricing is based on square footage with a 600 sq ft minimum. The Roxy and Winston have set pricing - visit our services page for current rates. The Scarlett is custom quoted based on the condition and size of the turf.

What's included in a standard turf cleaning?

Our Roxy service includes debris removal, power brooming to lift and separate fibers, infill redistribution, and a light rinse for a full surface reset. The Winston adds deep saturation of pet-affected areas, professional-grade odor treatment, and bacteria breakdown at the source.

Every service tier is built to leave your turf better than we found it.

Do you offer one-time cleanings or recurring service?

Both. We serve customers who want a one-time deep clean as well as those who prefer scheduled maintenance on a regular basis.

Logistics

What areas do you serve?

Arizona Turf Rescue serves Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Vail, and Sahuarita/Green Valley. Not sure if you're in our service area? Reach out and we'll let you know.

Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the turf and a water source, many customers aren't home during service. We'll confirm logistics when scheduling.

How do I get a quote?

You can request a quote directly on our website (get a quote button) or by giving us a call or text at 520-261-3111. We'll follow up quickly to discuss your yard's needs and recommend the right service tier.

No complicated process. Just tell us about your turf and we'll take it from there.

How do I prepare my yard before you arrive?

Just make sure the turf area is accessible and pick up any large items or toys from the surface. We handle everything else.

Seriously, that's it. We've got the rest.
